CFP: Marlowe Festival and "The Massacre at Paris"

On behalf of our friends at the Marlowe Society of America, please see the following call for papers for the second international Marlowe Festival, to be held at the Sorbonne Université Paris, 19-21 May 2022.

The Marlowe Festival: Second International Conference will be held at the Université Sorbonne Nouvelle and Sorbonne Université, in the historical Latin quarter of Paris, and is part of the special “Marlowe Festival” co-organized by the universities of Kent, Reims Champagne-Ardenne, and the Sorbonne Nouvelle, with the support of the Institut Universitaire de France. As part of the Marlowe Festival, it will follow up on the earlier conference, "Marlowe and the Topicality of Textual Encounters," to be held in Rheims, May 17-20, for which joint registration is possible.

These conferences will be coupled with a variety of out-reach actions, including two different performances of Marlowe’s Massacre in Paris at the National Theatre of Rheims and in the Oratoire du Louvre (a former Jesuit Oratory in the historical neighbourhood of the Massacre which was given to the Reformed Church in 1811), and various historical walks and visits in Paris and Rheims.

Please send your proposals (300 words) for individual papers with a short CV (1 page max) by the 1st of September 2021 to this email address. Notifications of acceptance will be sent by the end of October 2021. A selection of papers will be proposed for publication in special anniversary issues of two journals, Etudes Epistémè and the Revue d’histoire du protestantisme.
